This coffee is fantastic. I originally ordered the 100g box, which produced roughly 2 pots of coffee. I compared it to the coffee I normally buy from a local roaster, and Gayo Kopi was the clear winner. Just ordered the 2 boxes, and plan to give one to my roaster friend to have him give it a try.

I heard about kopi luwak years ago on the bucket list movie, but never gave it a try because of all the negative press it’s received with poor treatment of animals. After reading about the owner of this company in a magazine, I decided to give it a try. These guys haven’t left any detail unattended to. Not only does the coffee have a perfect light roast (and tastes wonderful!), the packaging is exquisite. I already drank all the coffee, but am saving the box lol. What’s so cool is how the owner (Jeff?) searched everywhere to find kopi luwak from an ethical provider. Very cool business that’s been born here! Keep up the great work, GK. Will reorder soon!

I’ve tried kopi luwak a couple times before, and have always been underwhelmed. However, a friend of mine told me about gayo kopi, and I decided to give it a try. As a self-professed coffee snob, I had low expectations. The flavor profile was very complex, yet balanced with sweet fruity notes. I brewed it using the pour-over method, which produced a nice thick froth. I was surprised how fresh this coffee was. It had very few bitter notes, and the aftertaste was as close to perfect as I’ve experienced. Aside from the compelling story that goes along with Kopi Luwak, this is a truly remarkable coffee on its own. What I mean is that if you take out the novelty factor of the civet, this coffee could stand up to the best specialty coffees out there. Of course, it’s quite a bit more expensive, but I’ve heard of Kopi Luwak selling for well over $1000/lb, so Gayo Kopi’s offering is a bargain by comparison. Definitely worth giving a try.

Husband loved this coffee so much last Christmas, I’m ordering him the 4-pack this year. Excited to see the film you are doing on this coffee! Love that you take the well-being of animals so seriously!
